Online sail numbers for GBR boats |
Owners of boats based in Great Britain (including the Channel Islands) can now apply for their RORC sail number through our MyIRC online system, where you will be able to choose your sail number from a list of those still available.
RORC issued sail numbers are identified by an 'R' suffix. Standard numbers are 4 figures but RORC members are entitled to a 3 figure number; to see more details about this and compliance with the Racing Rules of Sailing, please click here.
Please note that we cannot issue GBR sail numbers to boats based overseas, even if British registered; overseas boats should contact their local Member National Authority to obtain an appropriate sail number.

New RORC Rating & IRC websites launched |
Welcome to the new RORC Rating Office website!
We hope you like the new look for our website! Apart from the visual change, the main difference you will notice is that under the IRC section, there is a lot less information; this is because RORC & UNCL have just launched a brand new, dedicated IRC website at www.ircrating.org; there are more details about this below.
www.rorcrating.com now becomes dedicated to those boats that are based in Great Britain and the Channel Islands, so only includes those items that are specific to those boats, eg. rating application forms, fees, sail numbers, etc. In effect it becomes the site of the GBR Rule Authority.
All general IRC information such as Rule texts, race organiser information and Rule authority contact details, have been transferred to the new IRC site.......

Notice of Race - certificate validity dates |
We have noted that a significant number of Notices of Race invoke IRC by simply requiring a ‘valid IRC certificate'. With an increasing number of boats now travelling around the world to regattas, this has created problems where a boat from the southern hemisphere (whose certificate remains valid in her own country until May of the following year) attends a northern hemisphere regatta in the first 5 months of a year. A similar issue can arise when a ‘north' boat travels to an event in a ‘south' country.
