Why 'Poolside'?    Because our office is on the first floor overlooking the largest open air sea water baths on the south coast; beyond the pool is the Yacht Haven and Lymington River, looking south towards the Isle of Wight.  

From www.lymington.com:  "The Lymington Sea Water Baths are the largest along the South coast and date back to the 1780s.  They were originally marketed by Mrs Beeston as "strengthening" and many customer soon visited from all over England in order to improve their health in the water and mud.

The baths went from strength to strength, increasing in size and varying the activities offered to archery, rifle shooting and golf at the end of the nineteenth century though the onset of the Second World War soon saw the closure of such facilities.

After various owners the baths were acquired by the local council in 1929, and are still owned and run as such."

The RORC Rating Office adjoins the Lymington Town Sailing Club which occupies the old Bath House; our offices are believed to have housed a cafe to the swimming pool before the Rating Office took up residence in 1983.
