  1. Entry to the competition is restricted to two entries per person. Additional entries will be disregarded, only the first two received will be considered.  Update 1/8/13 for clarity: Entries must be submitted by the photographer. Entries from eg. the owner of the pictured boat will not be accepted.
  2. Automated entries, bulk entries or third party entries will be disqualified.
  3. Employees of the Royal Ocean Racing Club (RORC) and IPC Media are not permitted to enter. There are no national restrictions on entries.
  4. Potential entrants should read 'What the judges are looking for' before submitting their entry, to ensure that the subject matter is appropriate and stands the best chance of being shortlisted.
  5. Entries must be submitted in colour, portrait, digital JPG format in high resolution (300dpi, A4 size) to ensure that it is suitable for use on the cover of the Yearbook.  (It is unlikely that camera phones will deliver a suitably high resolution). Entries of insufficient resolution will be excluded.
  6. Entries must be submitted between 0900 BST Monday 15th July 2013 and 1200 BST Friday 30th August 2013. Entries received after the closing date/time will not be considered.

You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with the subject line 'IRC 2014 Yearbook cover photo competition' and include: (1) entrant's full name (2) location (country) (3) a descriptive caption for the photograph (4) e-mail address (5) daytime telephone number.
  8. Participating photographers will retain copyright on their photographs but, by their submission, they entitle Seahorse Rating Ltd to multiple use of all photographs submitted, free of charge, with appropriate photographer credit
  9. Entries will be judged by a panel of experts in their fields, namely Matthew Sheahan from Yachting World, RORC Technical Director Mike Urwin, award-winning photographer Ian Roman and leisure marine PR consultant Peta Stuart-Hunt.
  10. The Judges reserve the right not to select a winner if none of the entries are considered appropriate for the IRC Yearbook cover.
  11. The winner will receive a certificate, and have their photograph featured as the cover of the 2014 IRC Yearbook, with appropriate credit as agreed with the winner. There is no monetary prize.
  12. The winning photograph may have identifying features such as sail numbers removed before publication.
  13. Reserve Winner and Highly Commended entries will receive a certificate.
  14. Winners will be contacted via the email address from which the entry was sent, unless an alternative is given at the time of entry.  Entries will be acknowledged on receipt. The winner will be notified by 30th September 2013
  15. The Winner shall specify whether or not they will permit their identity to be made public and included in a press release along with details of where and when the winning photograph was taken.
  16. The Judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered in to.
  17. RORC will not pass on entrants' details to any third party without prior consent.
