About the Business
The RORC Rating Office, based in Lymington in Hampshire, is owned by the Royal Ocean Racing Club that organises a full racing programme including the Rolex Fastnet Race. This is a small office offering a global service through a network of Rule Authorities (our agents) as well as personally to sailors mainly in the UK.

The Rating Office is involved in the technical aspects of yacht racing and since 1984 has developed a rating system program in cooperation with our partners in Paris, which is used in over 30 countries. The IRC rating system rates all types of yachts using their weight, measurements and other features so they can race fairly, competitively and as closely as possible, while keeping up to date with emerging designs and equipment.

The Technical Team Role
We are seeking to fill a vacancy for a Technical Team Member who will primarily handle the significant administrative tasks related to the IRC rating system. Working within a small, dedicated and experienced team, the role will involve data input to calculate ratings and issue of IRC rating certificates for yachts racing in the UK and globally. The post also includes some general administrative duties.

The successful candidate will be highly numerate, literate, competent in the use of Microsoft Access, Word and Excel, and have a keen eye for detail. They will assist owners, official measurers and IRC representatives in the UK and worldwide, and work with the marine industry, including yacht clubs, race organisers, boat designers and sailmakers. Training will be given and will be ongoing in this role. Some knowledge of sailing and racing boats is desirable.

The office is extremely busy in the lead up to high profile events such as the Round the Island Race and Cowes Week, as well as overseas events and local club events, so the candidate will need to be reliable, work well under pressure and be able to prioritise their workload. Talking to owners and answering enquires in an efficient and friendly manner is essential, as is the ability to take the initiative when necessary.

Competitive salary, 35 hours per week, 20 days holiday plus Bank Holidays. Part-time may be considered down to 25 hours per week.
