IRC is a self measurement rule and there is no requirement to have your boat officially weighed or measured for a Standard IRC certificate.
However, if you would like your boat weighed and/or measured, and/or require an IRC Endorsed certificate, RORC have several measurers around the UK as listed below. Please contact us with details of your boat and requirements and we will get in touch with you.
Many of you will already know your local measurer, but please contact us first to discuss your requirements. This is particularly important if you need an Endorsed certificate and helps to avoid misunderstandings and possible costs for more than one trip by the measurer! Please note that not all RORC measurers are RYA qualified to measure sails for Endorsement. Please check with the Rating Office if you need sails measured.
Please note that when weighing a boat the bow and stern overhangs (BO, SO, y, h, x) will also be measured.
For more information on the IRC Rule and measurement, please see www.ircrating.org.
If you have not yet revalidated and have made changes to your boat, or are planning to weigh your boat before racing, please submit the revalidation application with full details of what you have changed or a note that you will be having the boat weighed/measured We can then hold the application pending measurement.
If you hold a current valid IRC certificate and are having your boat weighed for the first time of the season you will be eligible for a free amended certificate. Please do not apply for an amendment; the Rating Office will contact you.
