Seahorse Rating Limited is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and protect your personal data in connection with rating certificate applications, related services and use of our website.

Information We Collect
We only collect information that is necessary to identify the owner and their boat and to administer the rating system(s).
This may include:
– Boat data and measurement information
– Owner name and postal address, which may be printed on your certificate(s)
– Email address
– Daytime telephone number(s)
– RORC Membership number (optional)
– Payment confirmation information (we do not receive or store card details)
– Technical website data such as IP address, browser type and device identifiers
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to administer your account and provide the services you have requested, including to:
– Process and issue rating certificates
– Contact you regarding your rating or other enquiries and requests from you
– Maintain and update our rating records
– Publish current and recent rating data (excluding owner details)
– Provide certificate validation and activate Member Offers where applicable
– Send administrative communications including, where applicable: application information and reminders; Seahorse magazine access information; postal correspondence.
– Comply with legal and regulatory obligations
Upon written request, we will provide you with a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Publication of Rating Information
Rating listings and valid boat data for current and recently rated boats are published online at https://rorcrating.com or https://ircrating.org. Published information does not include owner details. Publication of this information is necessary for the operation, transparency and integrity of the rating system(s) and is based on our legitimate interests. You may contact us if you have concerns regarding published data for your boat.
Copies of the most recent IRC rating certificate for a boat may be purchased by other parties. Owner name(s) will appear on these copies but not postal addresses.
Marketing Communications and Member Offers (IRC rating)
We may give your name, certificate number and offer validation code to our Member Offers Partners (currently Seahorse Magazine and SeaSure) solely for the purposes of activating and validating offers where applicable. From time to time, we or our Member Offer Partners may contact you by email with newsletters, member offers, discounts or events where you have given consent. You may withdraw consent at any time by contacting us.
Lawful Bases for Data Processing
We rely on the following lawful bases under UK data protection law:
– Contract – to process rating applications and provide related services.
– Legal obligation – to comply with accounting, tax and regulatory requirements.
– Legitimate interests – to administer rating schemes and publish rating information.

We do not sell or exchange personal information.

Data is securely deleted or anonymised when no longer required.

Rating Certificate Services
Seahorse Rating Limited is solely in charge of processing the rating applications made to it. No part of the rating process is subcontracted.
Certificates are issued electronically, normally within five to 21 working days unless additional information is required. Expedited services may be available subject to payment of the applicable fee.
Payments and Transaction Security
All payments are processed securely by Stripe, our payment service provider. At the point payment is required, you will be transferred to a secure Stripe-hosted payment page. Stripe processes the payment and provides confirmation and authorisation.
Seahorse Rating Limited does not receive or store credit or debit card details.
Transactions are processed in British Pounds (GBP).
Cancellation & Refunds Policy
From the date that the rating certificate is issued and for the remainder of the calendar year, there will be no cancellation other than following a review under the relevant rating system class rules. If an application is cancelled before processing, a refund less a £10 administration fee will apply.
Where incorrect information has been provided and a certificate processed, an amendment fee may apply. Where an error is made by Seahorse Rating Limited, a corrected certificate will be issued at no cost.
Weighing and Measurement Services Late Cancellation Policy
Late cancellation fees may apply to weighing appointments cancelled by the boat owner or their representative within 48 hours of the scheduled appointment. Carriage charges may also apply where equipment has been dispatched.
Publication of Rating Information & Rated Data
Publication of rating information and data is governed by our Privacy Policy.
