Sail data for Endorsed certificates

From January 2011 all GBR boats who require an Endorsed certificate will require sail measurement data from either RORC Measurers who have current RYA sail measurer accreditation*, or sail lofts that are registered with World Sailing (WS)/RYA having completed the World Sailing IHC (In-House Certification) requirements.  This does not apply to sails built before January 2011.

Any such loft will have met the WS standards required to maintain fairness established through traditional equipment control and certification, but reducing the time and cost of these activities. With the international system of IHC, WS can ensure standards and certification apply worldwide. By adopting this in Great Britain it has helped IHC standards become established across more GBR sail lofts, and competitors have gained through even better standardisation of measurement.

For the purposes of an Endorsed certificate, an IHC loft may measure a sail manufactured by another loft (irrespective of whether that loft is IHC approved or not), provided that the loft uses IHC measurement processes and a trained qualified measurer. Additionally, the sail shall be signed and dated by the measurer and the name of the measurer and the sail loft shall be permanently marked on the sail.
