Founded in 1950, the Junior Offshore Group (JOG) in the UK has always been about making offshore racing accessible, competitive, and seriously good fun. Born to give smaller yachts a level playing field, JOG continues to champion Corinthian sailing—prioritising amateur racing, inclusivity, and a strong sense of community both on and off the water, welcoming everyone from first-time racers to seasoned offshore crews.
All JOG races are scored under IRC Rating and sets a top rating band to stay true to its roots of competitive, amateur-friendly racing.
From early spring to late summer, JOG delivers a packed calendar of racing, typically 12–18 events per year, split between Coastal Series and Offshore Series. Together, they create a full programme that blends inshore intensity with offshore adventure, attracting a diverse fleet of double-handed and fully crewed teams. Additional initiatives include the very successful Generation JOG for members under 30, and boats competing with a minimum percentage of women aboard are also eligible for the Women’s Sailing Series.
Although JOG doesn’t have its own clubhouse, after each race the fun continues ashore with socials, shared stories, and a community that celebrates the camaraderie as much as the results.
The upcoming JOG Week (25-29 July), organised by the Junior Offshore Group (JOG), is one of the UK’s standout IRC racing regattas, combining highly competitive coastal racing with a welcoming amateur sailing atmosphere. Based in Dartmouth, the 2026 event brings together IRC-rated yachts for several days of tactical racing along the Devon coastline, alongside lively shoreside socials, prizegivings and crew events.
